The Scoop: Redesigned around a new snug, flat-knit upper, new energetic midsole foam and a new soft ankle collar, the GoRun 6 is a fast and light performance trainer with a reliably snug and comfortable sock-like fit. Skechers was one of the first running shoe brands to utilize flat-knit uppers and this one is well-executed, creating a secure fit with various levels of tension without being overly tight or binding. The semi-firm, responsive FLIGHT GEN midsole foam puts much more spring into this shoe compared to previous editions that featured soft, less energetic foam. The foam, combined with a rigid heel counter make this the most supportive and structured GoRun model ever made, and that all contributes to the high-level of performance this shoe now exudes.
Who’s It Best For: This is great long-distance trainer/racer for long races and longer events (10K to the marathon). The fit, cushioning and low-profile design help this shoe ooze quick-cadence running. It can still run slow without any challenges, but it is definitely built for running fast.
Plus: A lot of our testers ran in this shoe without socks. Not ironically, the shoes come with an Ortholite Sockliner with anti-microbial properties that fights against odor-causing bacteria and fungus to keep feet cool and fresh.
Minus: The flat heel collar was well received by our testers, but it interfered sometimes with low-cut and no-show running socks.
